Week 11 Thursday, August 19th, 2010

Dear family,
The city I'm in is still Las Vegas, even though it's about 10 miles or so from the strip. I could understand a little bit more at church this time. I still have to be paying attention a lot, though. I go to coordination meetings with the ward mission leader on Wednesday nights and then we have another meeting before church with the ward mission leader and the bishop and his counselors about our investigators. My bike works and everything, I just need some biking gloves.

The weather is always hot; it's usually above 100 every day, I think. Fortunately, we're never outside too long unless people don't let us in, or we don't have any meetings.

We're excited for Pablo, one of our investigators who has a baptismal date. He's getting baptized this Saturday. We also got Yolanda's husband (Jose) to commit to baptism, too, after he talked with the bishop about uncertainty. We weren't sure exactly what the bishop said, but after the interview, Jose said that he thought he was ready. We also got to set Luis Lopez for a baptismal date, too. He stopped smoking about a week ago, so he still needs some more time until his addiction is under control, so we set him for the 11th of September.
We have another progressing investigator, Arlene, who's really excited to get baptized, but like we said, we can't set a date until her court date on the 23rd.
Also, there's a guy that my companion and Elder Quito (in our district) found and had a lesson with in his house, and he seems pretty promising, too, so hopefully we might be able to set a date for him these next couple weeks.
