December 2, 2010

Dear family,

So we thought that the Rojas family would have to wait to be baptized this week because Christopher wasn't ready, but they all got married and baptized last week. So to start off, the first zone leader interviewed Christopher in English, and he didn't know enough. He's 8 years old, and so it's kind of obvious he didn't know a lot. Then we taught Christopher (in Spanish) pretty quickly in 2 days, and got the Spanish Zone Leader to interview him in Spanish since we taught him in Spanish. But then the Spanish Zone Leader still didn't pass him because he said Christopher didn't know enough about the law of chastity and about what a prophet means to him. We told our ward mission leader who wanted him baptized that week and so he talked with the Zone Leaders. The Zone Leaders said that they weren't willing to pass Christopher because he didn't know enough to the ward mission leader. The bishop calls the ZL's and told them the same thing, but the ZL's still said that they felt that he wasn't ready. Finally, we called President Christensen, and then President called the ZL's and told them that there's only 2 requirements for an 8-year old to be baptized. First, they have to have a desire to be baptized, and second, they have to have a desire to do good. Finally, the ZL's called us and said it was okay to baptize Christopher that same week. It was pretty crazy.

We still have Jose LaGuardia set this week for baptism, so that's good that we'll have a full family in the gospel along with his wife.

We have some more investigators that are starting to progress, but we haven't had the chance to set them for baptism for one reason or another. We just had a district meeting though, on reviewing how to set more people for baptism, so that's also good.

It was really enlightening this morning to go to the temple a couple weeks after Elder Bowen talked to us. I think I learned a lot more and I felt the Spirit a lot.

I got your package this week and so I got the CD case, the Gospel Principles book, and the bike lights. The bike lights work really well, so thanks for that. Oh yeah, since Elder Boschi is going home this week, I'm going to get a new companion at Transfer Conference. I just don't know if I'll get a new companion here in this area or if it'll be in another area. A lot of people say that I might be going, but we'll see what happens. I'll know by Saturday, and I'll tell you about it next week. Well, that's about it from me. I'll tell you all if I need anything else.

I love you!
