Dear family,
Things are still going pretty good. We had a lot of investigators come to church last week, and it was definitely the most I've had so far. Isidro came to church, but he's about 80 years old, and so he just slept through most of it. Max didn't come to church for some reason, and then we have another investigator named Jose Flores and his 3 sons came to church and they said they really liked it. They even came to the Stake mutual last night, so they seem really cool.
We're also teaching an English family where there's a 9 year old and he has an 8 year old friend, but his dad won't let him get baptized because "he doesn't know what he's doing" and that "he needs to be a little older". So we asked him how old he thinks he needs to be, and I don't remember what he said, but we just told him that the Lord has said that at 8 years old, you know what's right and what's wrong and that you don't have to have a "perfect knowledge of things" to be baptized in the Church. I've already been through that with Christopher Rojas and I don't want to go through that again where people think that 8 year olds have to know everything before they're baptized.
We actually have most of our work in Mesquite or Bunkerville (both in Nevada), we only have one investigator in Arizona. When I was in Bullhead City (Arizona), we covered Laughlin (Nevada), and we had a lot of investigators there, and so we had to take into account the time change.
Haha, the casinos don't tempt us at all.
Aww, so the Taurus died finally. That car's been around for as long as I can remember. Well, I guess you'll probably be getting a new car soon, won't you...?
I actually didn't realize that today was St. Patrick's day today until I saw some green pancakes shaped like shamrocks sitting on our kitchen table. I guess that Sis. Mikkelsen (the member we live with) had some extras and wanted to give us some.
Last night, we went with our ward mission leader to invite some less active families to a ward party on Friday, and I was surprised at how well he was doing it. He said that he'd been inactive for 20 years before he was ward mission leader and so he knows exactly what they were going through. And he knew exactly how to approach it, which was just to be their friend and invite them out to things, because that's what they need first and that from there they can learn little by little.
Yeah, so things are going good right now and we're still working hard. I'll let you know if I need anything.
I love you!
Elder Meiners
