Dear family and friends,
There wasn't a whole lot that happened this week. At church, we saw Ramiro who usually comes, and Javier also came this week, which was surprising. Javier is a little backwards in the way that we haven't taught tim anything at his house (because his mom doesn't really like us), but he has a lot of fellowship with the Young Men and so they invite him to church every week. Usually investigators are the other way around where we go to their house 2 or 3 times a week, but never come to church. Such is the case with Daniel and Yesenia right now. We've taught them a couple times this week and they're reading and praying, but they're just not coming to church. We haven't really seen anybody else this week because we've been trying to get in contact with people, but they're never home or some have moved. Others aren't really keeping their commitments and just have us come over because they want to learn, but then they never do their homework that we leave them.
Well, E. Santillan and I got a call on Saturday night telling us that we're getting double-transferred. So we're both leaving the area and there'll be two new missionaries coming into our area. It's kind of funny because this just happened in my last area when I was with Elder Pirir. But I guess it wasn't too out of the ordinary because both E. Santillan and I have been in the Monte Bello ward for about 6 months and so we both need a change in scenery. It's doubtful that we'll still stay in the same ward. That already happened to me once, and I don't think it'll happen again. But we'll be getting a new companion and a new area and we're both excited.
We had a pretty good Halloween. We had our ward trunk-or-treat party on the 29th and that was fun. There was a costume contest where some of the kids showed their costume and told us who they were and that was fun. There was a lot of people that came but only like 7 families actually had cars with candy ready to give out after, so the kids didn't get too much candy. On the 31st, we had our P-Day and then in the evening, we had to watch a Church movie that just recently came out called "17 Miracles" and it portrayed the trials and hardships that the Martin Handcart company faced when they came over in 1856, but also all the blessings and miracles that happened because of their faith. It was a really intense movie and it was even scary at some parts, but it still brought the Spirit and it was good.
We really haven't had that much success in our area, so I guess it's kind of good that I'm leaving. Like we said, we've been trying to contact referrals, contact investigators, talk to people on the street, but it just hasn't worked out. Hopefully, I'll have more success in my next area. But that's pretty much everything that's happened this week. I'll tell you if I need anything.
I love you!
Elder Meiners
