April 7, 2010

Dear family,
Things have been going pretty good. Not a whole lot has changed since last week except for the fact that we saw General Conference. We just watched General Conference at the stake center for each session. There weren't any investigators there at the stake center (there were about 6 members), but we did have about 3 investigators actually go to Salt Lake for the Conference, so that was cool. I definitely liked the Priesthood session the best. All of the First Presidency that spake during that session had really good talks, especially President Uchtdorf's talk about how we need to live up to our privileges and not miss out on anything that could bless us. I think it definitely gave us some answers to our questions that Elder Alatorre and I had and was a good testimony builder.
We had a pretty good district meeting this week about how we should have love when we teach people on the street. So our district leader dressed up like "Moses" (this one homeless guy that always walk around town that has a super long beard) and we practiced having love when we taught him. We kind of just kept laughing at how funny it was and when it was over, we took a picture of him. I'll try to send some pictures next week, if I get the chance. I didn't get to send any pictures in my last area because I don't remember if there was a way I could send them through the computers, but I'll try to send some as soon as I can.
We had an FHE with a recent convert family on Monday and we just shared our favorite scriptures and then explained why we liked it. I shared Jacob 5:71-72 because it's a good missionary scripture and then the family just talked to each other about their goals to grow stronger in the Gospel.
We went on exchanges yesterday and I got to go with one of the English missionaries and it was pretty fun. We didn't have too many appointments because most of them fell through, so we just ended up walking through some of the areas that we weren't familiar with.
That's really cool that Reservoir is doing Hairspray this year. I think 2 years ago when I was a senior, we did a Hairspray medley and each ensemble did a song from Hairspray and also 5 years ago when I was a freshman we did "You Can't Stop the Beat" for Concert Choir, so I'm pretty familiar with most of the songs in Hairspray. I bet it would've been real fun to play in the pit for that.
Well, not too much happened this week that I can think of other than that. We have transfers this week, so I don't know if Elder Alatorre is staying or going, but I'm pretty sure that I'm staying. I'll tell you if I need anything.

I love you!

Elder Meiners
