Dear family and friends,
Things are going pretty good this week. We had some appointments go through and some not. Jose Garcia came to church for the second time in a row, so that was really good because he could also talk to some members about some jobs that he could find because he's still looking for a job. We haven't set him for baptism yet, but we'll probably do it within this week. Byron came to night church this past week, but we weren't there because we had appointments, but we heard from the member that drove him that he was a little tipsy when he got there, so I don't really know if that's bad or good. I think it'll definitely be our focus to help him stop drinking so much because often times, he starts out the day by drinking. We still haven't had word from Rafael's mom yet because she hasn't changed her days off yet to Sunday so that she can go to church and see what it's like. It was kind of a bummer because all of our other investigators weren't home or were busy, so we couldn't see most of them this week.
I did hear about the earthquake from one of our members and I'm glad to know that everyone's fine and that nothing serious happened. I'd actually never heard of an earthquake hitting Maryland until you told me about one that happened about a year ago when I just started my mission.
This week has been a little hotter than usual in Las Vegas. I don't think that everybody can come to an agreement on exactly how hot it is, but it's definitely been over 100 for the past week or two. I think usually it stays around 110 in the afternoon, so we try to just stay inside for as long as we can. I wish that some of your rain could just come over to our side for a day or two, because it hardly ever rains around here. It kind of sounds like every year the end of band camp show might or might not get rained out. I guess that's just a really rainy part of the year.
So last P-Day, I got the bike from the bishop's son from the ward that had the bike and it's pretty good. Speaking of P-Days, next Thursday (Sep. 1st) will be the last P-Day on Thursday because they're going to change it to Monday. So starting on Sep. 5th, every P-Day will be on Monday (which means that I'll have 2 P-Days in one week), so if you want to send any emails or anything like that, that will take effect on Sep. 5th.
So not that much happened as compared to last week because some of our appointments fell through, but that just means that we have to work that much harder. There's a lot of people out there and I hope that we can be able to find those that are ready to hear about the Gospel and are looking for those answers. I know that this Church is true and that we're doing the work of the Lord. That's pretty much it from me.
I love you all!
Elder Meiners
