Dear family and friends,
Things are going pretty well. This week was a little slow because some more of our appointments fell through, so we didn't get to see too many people. Jose is still doing good. He came to church for the 3rd time in a row and so we're really excited about that. We're still a little hesitant to set him for baptism because he still hasn't found a job yet to sustain himself and his family, but we're praying for him. It also seems that Byron has more than one problem to take care of: he's not married. Even though he and his girlfirend have been living together for about 20 years, for some reason the girlfriend doesn't want to commit to marriage.
We have another investigator named Lurdes and she has two daughters, Giovana and Pamela that are all really interested in what we have to share and they're keeping their commitments. They always have really good questions and we're planning on setting them for baptism this week.
I had a member cut my hair this past week and it looks really good. Some of the other missionaries said that it looked like I was in the military because of how short it was (don't worry, it wasn't a buzzcut, but it was a lot shorter). We also had interviews with Pres. Neider and since it was the first one that he did, it was a lot different than when Pres. Christensen did them. I guess each mission president has their own way of doing things.
I forgot to wish Dad a Happy Birthday, so Happy Birthday! (Don't worry, I won't say how old you really are) I've heard that the weather is supposed to cool down a little this week, but we'll see if that really happens. I actually haven't been affected too much by the heat because often times we'll stay inside the house of a person we're teaching or we'll stop at a member's house for a glass of water really quick. That's crazy that the East Coast had two catastrophes in the same week and that there might be more. I hope everything is going well with you all.
There was also an elder from our ward named Ricardo that just left on his mission to Texas and he's the former bishop's son. So we went to his farewell party on Sunday and there was a lot of food and fun. I took a picture and I'll try to send that picture along with some others as soon as I can.
Other than that, there wasn't a whole lot that happened this week. Just a reminder that today is my last P-Day on Thursday and that from now on our P-Days will be on Mondays. If there's anything I need, I'll tell you.
I love you!
Elder Meiners
