Week 3: June 18, 2010

Sorry I didn't send my email last week. I was trying to type it and I was typing so much that I didn't send it on time and it expired. And don't worry, Dad, I still got your email. Somehow, it still followed through. So I went to the temple again today, and it's good because it always puts a big perspective on the small things.

There were a couple funny stories that happened last week. So my companion said that he doesn't want to get married and that if he does, he wants it to be a girl that splashes blue paint on a wall with her hand. So we went to the temple today and I saw the painting where there's Jesus in a cloud with his hands spread out and there's a whole lot of angels playing the trumpet. I looked closely and I saw a small bright blue brushstroke only about an inch long, but it stuck out like a sore thumb. I turned to my companion and said "Your future wife painted that." There was another time this week when an elder in our district was being the investigator for my companion and he refused to believe in God. When asked why, he replied "I believe in science!" It reminded me of the movie "Nacho Libre".

Our church meetings are held in Spanish and English actually. When an elder gives a talk, it's in Spanish, but when the branch presidency speaks, it's in English. We have to prepare a talk every week, though in case the branch president calls on us to give the talk for the week. On our P-Day, we do laundry, go to the temple, write letters, and email for 30 minutes. Yeah, I wonder who the new stake presidency will be back home. Does that mean that Dad will still be on the High Council?

My companion like I said is having a hard time learning Spanish because he took German in high school. In fact, he's far enough behind that he needs a tutor just to get to where everybody else in the district is. I'm doing okay in Spanish, but I still have a lot of work to do, and I can't do it all by myself.
By the way it sounds, it seems like Mom needs to come home quick because Julia and Andrea are making all the meals. Well now they know what college life is like. Yeah and I wish I could've been at the Alumni concert. That would've brought back a lot of memories.
Oh yeah, we have weekly inspections in our classroom and our bedroom, and we got "Commendable" for both. And you never thought I could make a bed, did you? Well, that was probably the first time in my life that I actually tried to make a bed. And obviously, it was good enough.
Last time I went over, so I'll be sure not to do that again this week.
