Week 4: Happy 4th of July

The weeks are really starting to go by fast here now. We have two new teachers to help us learn Spanish and learn how to teach. They're all fairly young, just a year or two off their missions. One is Hermano Soelberg, and he went to Argentina, and another is Hermana Smith and she went to Puerto Rico. She's actually getting married a day before Erika is, and she'll only be our teacher for another week or so.

We got to see Dallin H. Oaks at the Special Devotional. We all thought it would be a member of the First Presidency or even the prophet, but what he had to say was still really cool. He talked about the 3 basic things about what makes our church different from other churches. I've been having a hard time getting up the first few weeks, but now it's gotten a little easier since we started getting up before 6:30. Our teacher told us we should do that so that we're up by 6:30.

I'll probably send pictures of my district and my companion this week or so. It takes a couple of days for pictures to be printed off here. I'm a little worried because we have to give the first lesson in Spanish this week and we don't really feel that prepared. I know how to say the First Vision and James 1:5 in Spanish, but I still have a long way to go.

I actually got a letter from President Strickland yesterday regarding the new stake presidency and just wishing me luck. The funny thing is, I don't think I recognize anybody who's in the new stake presidency now. How are the marriage classes going? Do you give them examples from your marriage to the new spouses or do you give examples of the preferred way to do things? haha.
It's actually pretty funny, we've been saying a whole lot of quotes from Nacho Libre because the accent they use in the movie is hilarious. We've been saying stuff like "Get that corn outta my face!" and "This lettuce is delicious." I'm not even sure what we're going to do for the 4th of July since it's on Sunday. Today was also the first time I took a nap so far, it was only for half an hour, but it was something.
Just be sure to get Julia's senior picture in as quick as possible. Some people in my district really want to see it. haha.
