November 18, 2010: Week before Thanksgiving

Dear family,

Things are going pretty well. We actually figured out that the parents of the Rojas family aren't married, so we're going to try and have the parents get married the morning of the 27th and then have them both along with their 8-year old son get baptized later on that day. We just had a lesson with them at the temple on Tuesday and we explained a little bit about the temple and what makes it different from a regular chapel.
We're also teaching Jose LaGuardia again, which is really good because he was really busy before so we didn't have the opportunity to teach him much. He's the husband of Yolanda LaGuardia, who got baptized in September, so that'll be good for both of them. We've also been teaching Davis Holman for a long time (since I got here), but this past week was the first time that he came to morning church along with one of his friends, so that's good for both of them.
So Elder Bowen from the First Quorum of the Seventy is coming this Saturday to talk to our mission. That sounds like a lot of fun. We're going to take up almost the whole day on Saturday just for the conference. I'll be having Thanksgiving at Hermano Hermosillo's house (he's the Young Men's President in our ward), so you don't need to worry about that.

That stinks that you have to have so many things replaced in the house, it is a pretty old house anyway. We've had it for about 17 years.

We're using one of the tables in our apartment as a ping pong table, but it's so small so it's kind of hard. We had a ping pong tournament last night in our apartment and I got last place. haha.

When I was on exchanges with Elder Arbizu yesterday, we met this old British couple that we thought were pretty funny. The husband said that they don't talk with missionaries and that they were Atheists. And then the wife tries to excuse them saying that "He always does this and we've been married for nearly 60 years." Then the husband is like "I'm serious! I'm not joking!" We thought it was funny.

It's mid-November out, but it doesn't really feel that cold. In fact, usually when I get on my bike, that's all I'll need to get myself warmed up.

I'm still doing fine. We got some baptisms lined up for the next couple weeks so that's great. I'll tell you if I need anything. I love you!
