Dear family,
Things are going good. It was really good to see Luis Lopez get baptized this week and we're excited to have Arlene's this week. She read 2 Nephi 9 where it talks about the Atonement and she underlined a lot more scriptures. Nephi's a powerful speaker sometimes. There were some verses we read and she literally says: "Yo, that goes hard." Our other investigator Johnny, hasn't been home in a long time so we might have to postpone his baptismal date a while until we can find him.
We had Transfer Conference this week and Elder Parker left for Elko, which is about 8 or 9 hours north, almost into Idaho. So my new companion is Elder Boschi and he actually is almost done with his mission. This is his last transfer and he's really cool, he used to be the zone leader in the North zone for a long time (right now we're in the Sunrise Zone).
Mom told me that you guys had the Primary Program this past week. There was a Primary Program at a night church that we go to and it's funny how there's always 2 little boys or 2 little girls in every ward that want to sing really loudly, almost to the point of shouting. We actually just had our ward's 'trunk or treat' this past week and it was really fun. Us Elders were in charge of one game. It's where we put balloons on chairs and we ask the kids to try and pop the balloon by sitting on it. I was actually surprised that most of the kids couldn't pop it because they didn't weigh enough. So we made them feel better by taking a pen and when they weren't looking, we would pop the balloon from behind the chair because you know how there're those huge holes on the backs of the chair.
Last P-Day, our apartment (4 Elders) bought a 30" pizza because they did it a while ago and wanted to do it again. It kind of reminded me when we would go to Ocean City and buy those 30" pizzas. We were hungry and so the 4 of us had that one pizza for that night, the next breakfast, and the next lunch.
That's good that you went out with the missionaries this past week and visited your home teaching families. We try to offer help also to our members who need help home teaching, but most of them say that they're okay. We also try to ask the members if they can help us out with teaching our investigators, but it's hard to sometimes find the time because a lot of them are working or doing something else. Lessons usually go a lot better when members are there because then the investigators can see how the members go through the same problems and help them through their own testimony.
It sounds like your marriage classes are doing well. We're going to be starting up English classes for those that speak Spanish and want to learn English this week with members from our ward and hopefully it'll be open to investigators, so that'll be really cool.
It stinks that there were only 3 of you to move all that wood. I guess I never knew how much it was, it was always just this huge pile. I think it's finally starting to get cold because yesterday was the first day I pulled out my jacket and then I wore just a sweater for the rest of the day because it was around the 70's throughout the day.
Well, I think that's it from me. I don't think I need anything right now, but I'll tell you if I do.
I love you!
Elder Meiners
