Dear family and friends,
Things have gone a little better this week. We had a couple of lessons with some investigators that we have. The first one was Bryan and he's been taught by the missionaries for quite a while. One of his main concerns though is that he can't come to church on Sundays because he has work (he's a skydiver). We have another investigator, Nick, who's been to church a few times and we've had a couple lessons with him. One of his big concerns is that he drinks and smokes almost every day, and so that'll probably be the hardest thing for him to quit. He has a strong belief in God and he says that he reads the Bible, but some things he just needs help with. We also had a talk with Josh's parents (Josh is a 14 year old investigator with no other members in his family) and they just wanted to make sure that if Josh is baptized, that he sticks with it and that he's committed to it. They also expressed concern because later on, Josh is going to a Catholic school and that might conflict with him being baptized Mormon, but we told them that it wouldn't matter too much as long as he does what he's supposed to and that it might actually help him notice more similarities than differences.
We also did some more service this week for a member named Yasmin. She wanted us to rotate her playhouse/jungle gym which was kind of big, and then we also helped paint the side of her house.
We also saw Jeffrey R. Holland this week at our ward. So a little bit of background is that in the Las Palmas ward, we have a Bishop Holland (Elder Holland's son) and so the Bishop's son (Elder Holland's grandson) was baptized this past Saturday and he gave a short talk about baptism. After the baptism, some of us missionaries asked if we could get a picture with him, so there's a picture of 6 missionaries with Jeffrey R. Holland in the middle.
As for Mother's Day, we will be able to Skype again. I'm not really sure at who's house we'll do it at, but I'll probably call for some of the information so that we can connect properly. I will probably be calling at or around 3:00pm PDT (6:00pm EDT) because we have church from 9-12 and 11-2, so that's probably the best time for me.
By the way, I'll be sending another package home this week with some more of my mission stuff, so just let me know if it gets there.
Well, I guess that's really it. I'll talk to you guys on Sunday.
I love you!
Elder Meiners
P.S. I finally got some pictures ready
#1 & #2- some pictures from when we spent a P-Day at a member's house. They have a house right by the Colorado River, so we took a few hours to just chill.
#3- Our district last transfer in Bullhead City.
#4- E. Montgomery, E. Valele, E. Taetakua, E. Holland, E. Driggs, E. Maiwiriwiri, and me (everybody is in our district except E. Maiwiriwiri and E. Driggs)
